Panama Tours & Scuba SA is a travel company in Panama that offers a variety of shore excursions. The excursions offered include visits to Gamboa, Casco Viejo, the Embera Indians, the Panama Canal, and the Miraflores and Agua Clara locks.

These excursions offer you the opportunity to discover the beauty and culture of Panama.

The pick-up time varies depending on the cruise ship. In principle, we always start very early in the morning, for various reasons.

We offer :

Group tours by bus up to 48 people (on request), small groups from 12 to 18-19 people depending on the tour.-

All our tours are joiner tours for a maximum of 18-19 people and the prices are calculated accordingly.

Other requests on request ( VIP SERVICE ).

Embera villages

EMBERA GAMBOA NATIONAL PARK

EMBERA QUERA INDIAN in Colon or

Embera Gamboa village in Gamboa National Park

ATTENTION: Due to the water level in the canal and side arms, the tour to the village in Colon may be cancelled and replaced by another village in Gamboa.

Your adventure begins on the shores of Lake Alajuela, where you will meet the Emberá people with their self-made canoes.

You will take a 30 - 60 minute boat ride (the time depends on the water level of the river). You will walk through pristine rainforest and see many birds such as herons, ospreys, maybe toucans and parrots. You may also encounter turtles, a caiman and With a bit of luck, a sloth, an otter or a monkey.

Upon arrival in the village, you will be welcomed with traditional music and a fascinating presentation of the history, culture and life of the Emberá in a typical communal hut. You will also have time to try out the exquisite hand-woven baskets, plates or masks made from palm fiber, cocobolo (rosewood ) or tagua nut wood, get a temporary tattoo, interact with the villagers or take photos.

(No lunch!) - Departure from Colon at around 6:00 a.m. - Trip to the Embera Quera village in Colon +/- 1 hour depending on traffic - Transfer to the village in an Indian boat, around 30 minutes’ journey - Dances, visit to the herb garden, explanations from the village elder about the Embera culture, their activities and much more. The Agua Clara Locks are one of the lock systems of the Panama Canal and are located near Colón, Panama. They opened in 2016 and are part of the expansion of the canal that allows larger ships, known as the Neopanamax, to pass through the canal. The Agua Clara Locks are technologically advanced and feature state-of-the-art equipment to perform the locking process efficiently and safely. They are equipped with cameras and sensors to monitor ship traffic and control the locking process. Visitors have the opportunity to tour the Agua Clara Locks from a visitor center, where you can get an impressive view of the locks and experience the locking process up close. There are also informative exhibits and films that explain more about how the canal works and the significance of the expansion. The Agua Clara Locks are an important part of the Panama Canal, a technological masterpiece and an impressive example of engineering. If you are interested in the Panama Canal, a visit to the Agua Clara Locks is definitely recommended.

GAMBOA

G AMBOA - MONKEY ISLAND - PANAMA CANAL

Gamboa is a small town in Panama, located about 30 kilometers from Panama City. It is located on the banks of the Panama Canal and is surrounded by lush rainforest. Gamboa is known for its natural beauty and is a popular destination for nature lovers and adventurers.

One of the main attractions in Gamboa is the Soberanía National Park, which is located nearby. The park offers numerous hiking trails where you can discover the native flora and fauna. Bird watching is particularly popular as the park is home to a wide variety of bird species , including the famous harpy.

Another highlight in Gamboa is the opportunity to take a boat tour on the Panama Canal. You can watch the ships sailing through the canal and learn more about the history and how the canal works.

We drive about 40 minutes from the port in Colon to Gamboa. Here we change to a local Llancha and drive through the Chagres River, which is fed by Lake Gatun, about 40 minutes through the Panama Canal and we will pass the largest ships of the We then turn into a side arm of the Panama Canal and drive to several islands where capuchin monkeys, marmosets and howler monkeys say goodnight. If we are lucky we will encounter other interesting species of animals such as crocodiles, turtles etc. You can see a very rich bird life. and you will fondly remember this magical short trip into the rainforest.

Tour schedule and overview of highlights - Departure from Colon at around 6:30 a.m. - Trip to the Chagres River in GATUN +/- 1.20 hours journey depending on traffic - We board a Llancha and drive into the Panama Canal. After about 40 minutes of driving, we turn into an arm of the canal and can observe the exotic flora and fauna here. You have the opportunity to see capuchin and howler monkeys, iguanas, sloths and crocodiles. - Departure to Panama City at around +/- 10:00 a.m. - We make a stop in Amador, from where you can admire the skyline of Panama City; - Walk through the historic old town of Panama City (Casco Viejo) * Free time to explore the old town on your own - Departure to Colon at around 1:00 p.m. - Arrival at around 2:00 p.m. in the port area of Colon 2000

All shore excursions start promptly between 6:00 am and 6:30 am.
Exception: Ships that arrive later. We adapt the tours according to the shipping company. (e.g. 10.30 am departure of the tours)
